GTA commuters using the Barrie GO Line face temporary departure-time changes through Tuesday, Oct. 13, with trains leaving up to three minutes earlier or later than their scheduled times, according to Metrolinx.
The adjustments began Monday, Oct. 5, after track upgrades shut down train service across the line for the weekend. Metrolinx says regular service will resume Wednesday, Oct. 14.
For riders travelling during the remaining adjustment period, the changes affect some schedules rather than a single departure time across the line. Metrolinx is advising passengers to review their schedules before travelling.
The work required a complete suspension of Barrie Line train service from Saturday, Oct. 3, through the end of service Sunday, Oct. 4. No GO trains operated on the line during that period.
The weekend replacement plan used GO shuttle buses between Allandale Waterfront and Rutherford GO stations, followed by direct service to the Highway 407 Bus Terminal.
BarrieToday’s updated report clarified that those trips were provided by shuttle buses, not trains. The correction followed updated information from Metrolinx about the replacement service.
Metrolinx also cautioned that GO bus departures can differ from train schedules. The weekend bus replacement and the temporary train departure-time changes were separate parts of the service adjustments.
According to Metrolinx, the track closures were needed for improvements intended to support faster and more frequent GO service under the GO Expansion program.
