Drivers in Clarington face lane restrictions on sections of Bowmanville Avenue, Durham Regional Highway 2 and Stevens Road while road rehabilitation and paving work takes place.

According to a Durham Region notice, the restrictions are ongoing until October 31. Unfavourable weather could affect the work schedule.

The work affects stretches of all three roads near Bowmanville Avenue. The Region says the restrictions are needed to allow crews to complete the rehabilitation and paving safely.

Where lanes are restricted

On Bowmanville Avenue, also known as Regional Road 57, restrictions extend from 50 metres south of Durham Regional Highway 2 to 200 metres north of Stevens Road.

On Durham Regional Highway 2, the affected section runs from 110 metres west of Boswell Drive to 230 metres east of Bowmanville Avenue.

On Stevens Road, restrictions cover the stretch from 60 metres west of Bowmanville Avenue to 130 metres east of Bowmanville Avenue.

Caution urged around work crews

The Region acknowledges that the work may cause disruption and says it will make every effort to finish as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Drivers are being asked to use caution to help protect pedestrians, cyclists and crews working on the roads.
