The Toronto City Clerk has certified 361 candidates for the 2026 municipal election, according to a City of Toronto news release.

The official list of certified candidates is now posted on the city's List of Candidates & Third Party Advertisers webpage, giving Toronto voters a full look at who will be on the ballot this fall.

The release also notes that some candidates have been declared elected by acclamation, meaning they faced no opposition and will take office without a vote in their race. The official Declaration of Acclamation is available on the city's Election Results webpage.

Election day is Monday, Oct. 26, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voters who want to cast a ballot early can do so during the advance voting period, which runs from Tuesday, Oct. 6 to Sunday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

The city says more information about voting locations, eligibility and how to register is available on the Toronto Elections webpage.

Toronto's municipal elections are held every four years, with voters choosing the mayor, city councillors and school board trustees. The City Clerk's office administers the vote under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.

Toronto is home to more than three million people and, as the fourth-largest city in North America, the outcome of its municipal election carries weight across the Greater Toronto Area, shaping decisions on transit, housing and services that affect residents well beyond the city's borders.

Residents who are considering a run for office themselves have missed the window — the certification of candidates marks the close of the nomination process for this cycle. The focus now shifts to the campaign period ahead of the October vote.
