The TTC is beefing up subway and streetcar service across the city this week as Toronto gets set to host one of three official FIFA Kickoff Concerts on Wednesday, June 10.
The concert takes place at Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway, and the transit agency is urging concertgoers to leave the car at home. Additional trains will run on Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth to move crowds quickly and safely, the TTC said.
Riders can reach the venue by transferring to the 509 Harbourfront streetcar at Union Station, or the 511 Bathurst streetcar at Bathurst Station. As of Sunday, June 7, both routes have been running every five minutes — a schedule the TTC put in place to handle heavier travel during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Help on the platform
Customer service ambassadors, wearing red TTC jerseys, will be stationed at high-traffic locations to answer questions, give directions and offer on-the-spot support, according to the TTC.
Wednesday's show is one of three simultaneous kickoff concerts, with the others staged in Mexico City and Los Angeles. Each will feature a mix of live and broadcast performances.
The Toronto lineup includes Bryan Adams, Nora Fatehi featuring Sanjoy, Vegedream, and AHI and Wyclef Jean.
Match-day service ahead
The concert is the first in a series of transit preparations for the tournament itself. The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off on June 11, with Toronto's first match scheduled for June 12.
On match days, the TTC will offer enhanced and expanded service to and from Toronto Stadium and the FIFA Fan Festival Toronto. Subway service will also run later on select nights so fans, residents and visitors can get home safely, the agency said.
The TTC has posted its full World Cup readiness and customer experience plans online at ttc.ca/kickoff, and is encouraging riders to check the site for service updates as the tournament gets underway.
