Toronto residents travelling between Nuit Blanche exhibits had an overnight transit plan that extended subway service on Lines 1 and 2 into Sunday, Oct. 4, according to a TTC service announcement. Extra overnight buses were also scheduled for art locations in South Etobicoke and near the Aga Khan Museum.

The announcement covered service and diversions from Oct. 2 through Oct. 4. Those dates have now passed.

The TTC said no subway closures were planned for the event. Its overnight schedule called for Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth to continue beyond their usual 2 a.m. closing time.

Trains on both lines were scheduled every 15 minutes from 1:30 a.m. until regular Sunday service resumed at 8 a.m. All stations on the two lines were to stay open overnight, with Blue Night Network buses entering stations to collect and drop off passengers.

Other lines kept earlier closing times

The extended subway hours did not apply across the entire network. Line 4 Sheppard was scheduled to finish service at approximately 2 a.m., while Line 5 Eglinton and Line 6 Finch West were scheduled to close at approximately 1 a.m.

For the South Etobicoke exhibit, the TTC identified the 944 Kipling South Express as the connection between Kipling Station and Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive.

Visitors heading to the Aga Khan Museum installation could use Line 5 to reach Aga Khan Park & Museum Station before its 1 a.m. closing time. The announcement listed the 334 Eglinton East Blue Night bus along Eglinton Avenue and the 100 Flemingdon Park bus from Pape Station as alternatives after that time.

Both the 100 Flemingdon Park and 944 Kipling South routes were scheduled to run extended overnight service from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Oct. 4.

Bay Street buses faced a downtown detour

The plan also included a diversion for the 19 Bay bus to accommodate Nuit Blanche activities and downtown road closures. The detour was scheduled from noon on Friday, Oct. 2, until noon on Sunday, Oct. 4.

Northbound buses were to travel west on Richmond Street West, north on University Avenue and east on Dundas Street West before returning to Bay Street.

Southbound buses were to travel west on Dundas Street West, south on University Avenue and east on Adelaide Street West before continuing south on Bay Street.
