Subway service on Line 1 between Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Finch West stations is operating on a single track at night this week as TTC crews carry out structural maintenance on the other track.
The arrangement began Tuesday, October 13 and runs through Thursday, October 15, with single-track operation starting nightly at 11 p.m. Riders travelling between Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Finch West may experience delays of up to 15 minutes, according to a TTC service advisory.
What riders should expect
Trains entering Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Finch West stations may arrive on the opposite side of the platform from their usual track, the TTC said.
Customers will also be required to transfer trains at Finch West Station in order to continue their northbound journey.
TTC staff will be on hand at the affected stations to assist riders during the maintenance work.
Stations stay open
All TTC subway stations will remain open through the overnight work, so customers can still buy or load a PRESTO card or PRESTO Ticket and connect to surface routes.
Regular two-track service resumes each morning at approximately 6 a.m.
The transit agency said most subway maintenance is done at the end of service each night, but it continues to need early-weeknight and weekend closures to complete state-of-good-repair work on the aging network.
Checking elevators and escalators
Riders who rely on elevators and escalators can confirm their status across the system by calling the TTC lift line at 416-539-5438 for real-time information on outages.
For up-to-date service information, the TTC is encouraging customers to follow @ttcnotices on X, subscribe to MyTTC e-Services and check the Live Service Alerts page on ttc.ca.
The work affects the portion of Line 1 that connects Vaughan, in York Region, with Toronto's Finch West Station, a key transfer point for GO Transit and TTC bus routes in the city's northwest.
