Toronto residents looking for Thanksgiving weekend outings have options ranging from outdoor films at the former Downsview Airport to a Halloween market and live performances, according to an events roundup published by Streets of Toronto.
The lineup also includes pumpkin-themed activities in Toronto and haunted attractions in Vaughan. Here is a look at the events included in the roundup.
Outdoor films and seasonal outings
YZD’s Runway Reels is bringing two outdoor movie screenings to the former Downsview Airport. Nirvana The Band The Show The Movie is scheduled for Friday, followed by Shrek 2 on Saturday.
The screenings are presented as a drive-in experience, but attendees do not need to arrive by car.
PumpkinFest Toronto is another Thanksgiving weekend option, with harvest-themed photo settings, midway rides and seasonal food. Visitors can also take home pumpkins for decorating.
For Halloween shopping, Toronto Dark Arts Market is holding its Hallowmas Market at Ground Control over the weekend. The event is set to feature more than 35 artisans and vendors selling goods with supernatural and spooky themes.
In Vaughan, Screemers offers seven haunted walk-through mazes. The Halloween attraction was previously located in Toronto.
Comedy and concerts
Chelsea Handler is scheduled to perform in Toronto on Saturday as part of her High and Mighty standup tour.
South Korean group Monsta X also has a Toronto performance listed for Saturday on its X: NEXUS tour. According to the roundup, Toronto is the group’s only Canadian stop.
Dan and Phil are bringing their Hard Launch Tour to Toronto on Friday. The appearance is described as their first tour since publicly confirming their relationship.
The Linda Lindas are scheduled to perform on Thanksgiving Monday as part of their Gotta Get Out tour, with Adan Diaz opening. The band released its latest album this summer.
More events in the weekly lineup
Toronto Indie Horror Fest is listed as running from Tuesday through Saturday. Filmgoers can choose between a festival pass and tickets for individual screenings.
The roundup also lists Teddy Swims for Monday on The Ugly Tour, accompanied by Freak Feely. Songs highlighted in the listing include Lose Control and The Door.
Beabadoobee’s Toronto appearance is listed for Wednesday, with Wisp opening. The performance is part of her first arena tour following the release of Pylon, an album featuring Hayley Williams and Brendan Yates.
